  1. Education, which should be helping youth to 
  2. understand and adapt to their revolutionary new 
  3. environments, is instead being used merely as an 
  4. instrument of cultural aggression, imposing upon 
  5. retribalized youth the obsolescent visual values of 
  6. the dying literate age. Our entire educational 
  7. system is reactionary, oriented to past values and 
  8. past technologies, and will likely continue so until 
  9. the old generation relinquishes power. The 
  10. generation gap is actually a chasm, separating not 
  11. two age groups but two vastly divergent cultures. I 
  12. can understand the ferment in our schools, because 
  13. our educational system is totally rearview mirror.
